CounterMint™ — intelligent quoting for coin dealers

Turn a collection into a purchase offer the dealer can explain and the customer can act on. CounterMint™ combines AI Vision, market context and configurable buying rules in a workspace built for coin, currency and bullion dealers.

A clearer experience on both sides of the counter

A mixed collection can mean repeated research, handwritten totals and follow-up calls as the market moves. CounterMint™ connects that work in one quote: the dealer can review the evidence and apply shop policy, while the customer sees an itemized offer they can revisit on their phone. The pricing work remains useful after the customer leaves the shop.

Intake, valuation and customer follow-through

Turn photographs into reviewable quote lines

AI Vision separates a photographed lot into individual items and prepares the visible details for review: series, year, mint mark, denomination, metal content and label information. Item crops keep the photograph beside the line, helping the dealer check the extraction without repeatedly re-entering the same information.

Grading labels can be transcribed when readable; raw coins are not assigned an authoritative grade by AI. The dealer confirms the item details before a line reaches the customer.

Separate metal value from collector premium

Comp normalization adjusts each comparable sale against the metal price on its sale date, separating the numismatic premium from the melt component. Relevance filters and statistical outlier handling keep dissimilar sales from carrying the same weight as a useful match. Dealers can inspect the underlying comps and edit their inclusion.

Current asking prices provide separate retail context; they do not set the buy offer. Gold, silver, platinum and palladium have current spot context and charts, while the calculation keeps market evidence distinct from the dealer’s margin policy.

Set buying rules at the level the work needs

Configure melt bands and premium participation, then refine the settings for a quote or an individual line. The interface shows where an inherited rule came from and lets the dealer override the suggested offer. Repricing controls include a dead band for small market movements, upward limits and rounding by metal.

Quote validity and the honor window after agreement are separate settings. Optional counter-offers can follow configured acceptance and decline thresholds, with the middle range routed to dealer review. Accepted values and the inputs behind them are preserved in snapshots.

Give the customer a quote they can use

Quote Studio brings shop branding, presentation controls and desktop, mobile and print previews into the quoting workflow. Customers receive an itemized, dynamic offer with clear terms, can accept individual lines, and can counter when the dealer enables it. An estimated marketplace-fee and shipping comparison can help explain the practical alternatives.

Branded email, a prepared SMS handed to the dealer’s device, and print all lead back to the same quote. A Quote ID and PIN reconnect paper to the live offer. Searchable history keeps customer, staff, item and quote activity together, so follow-up starts with the record already in view.

Configure the shop, then work through a lot

CounterMint™ is a hosted web application with a dealer workspace and a separate customer quote view. Setup brings together shop identity, staff access, buying rules, quote terms and presentation. The workflow supports incoming collections, certified coins, currency, bullion and scrap; the dealer chooses the appropriate inputs and references.

The founding-dealer preview is planned for September 14. Paid launch follows the preview and confirmation of the required data-provider arrangements. Current access details and the founding offer belong on countermint.io.

The platform behind the quote

Python 3.12 and FastAPI run the pricing and quote APIs; PostgreSQL stores dealer records, policy versions and transaction snapshots. Cloudflare Pages serves the dealer interface and customer quote portal, with the API hosted on a DigitalOcean Droplet.

AI assists with visual intake; deterministic pricing functions calculate from recorded inputs and resolved controls. Regression checks cover comp normalization, policy inheritance and acceptance snapshots. The customer view uses the same quote presentation model as Quote Studio.

The dealer keeps the judgment

  • CounterMint™ supports buy-side purchase offers. It is not a grading, authentication or appraisal service, and it does not replace the dealer’s decision about an item.
  • Market data is provider-delayed and depends on the available sources. Thin comps and stale inputs need review; a calculated range is not an executable market price.
  • The product focuses on pricing, quoting and customer agreement. POS, inventory management and the physical purchase remain part of the shop’s wider operation.

Keep dealer policy separate from the customer view

Dealer records are scoped to the dealership, with staff permissions controlling sensitive changes. Customer links expose the quote intended for that customer; internal pricing controls stay in the dealer workspace. Quote ID and PIN retrieval is rate-limited, and private quote responses are not stored in shared caches.
